Job Description

We have an exciting twelve-month plus opportunity for an Actuarial Consultant with a major firm located in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. This position offers a flexible work schedule of three days onsite (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) and two days remote, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Summary:
Join our Claims Actuarial Insights Department, dedicated to providing actionable intelligence to claims professionals. Collaborate closely with senior leaders to enhance catastrophe projection processes for North America, focusing on current and prior year catastrophes.

Responsibilities:
Update and refine the North America catastrophe projection process.
Extract, transform, and reconcile updated historical datasets.
Utilize historical data to select factors and metrics based on event types and other attributes.
Develop solutions and enhancements to address process challenges.
Conduct testing and validation to ensure the effectiveness of updated processes.
Document and communicate process updates and their impact effectively.

Skills Required:
Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with VBA (Visual Basic Application).
Proficiency in SQL Server; knowledge of R or Python is advantageous.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently overcome challenges.
Effective project and time management skills with a proactive approach.
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, especially with non-actuarial stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society) or ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) certification preferred but not required.
5+ years of experience in property/casualty actuarial disciplines.
