Position Summary

Washington University seeks an advancement professional for the position of Advancement Program Officer II. University Advancement strives to advance the mission of the school by creating a culture of philanthropy among alumni, students, faculty, and friends.


The successful candidate will play a crucial role in planning, implementing, and managing fundraising programs to support our organization's mission. This position requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Coordinate with academic and program leadership to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants, to meet fundraising goals with the school/ unit:â¯Â 

  • Speaker panels /mentor programs 
  • Receptions (in and out of town) 
  • Book clubs 
  • Holiday gatherings 
  • Reunions 
  • Class gift campaigns 
  • Parents Council relationships 
  • Sporting events and other outings 

Manage the engagement of volunteers through various committees and roles by assisting in planning fundraising events, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees, and maximizing fundraising opportunities related to the following:

  • National Council  
  • Alumni Boards 
  • Eliot Committees 
  • School-specific committees  
  • Manage the DAA selection committee 

Manage the process for identifying school and unit nominations for university and school-based awards (Founders Day, Distinguished Alumni Awards, Honorary Degrees, etc.)â¯by utilizing ARCH and other tools to analyze donor data, monitor fundraising progress, and generate reports for senior leadership, providing insights for fundraising decision-making.

Manage awardee engagement/bios/videos/ staffing.

Work with academic and program leadership and Alumni relations to facilitate student-to-alumni transitions.

Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with colleagues across departments, including communications, marketing, and programmatic teams, to ensure alignment of messaging and fundraising efforts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
