Job Description

Light of Life Rescue Mission is seeking full-time and part-time Care Support Specialists for its Men's Shelter . These positions extend hospitality, supervision and customer service to shelter quests. The job requires candidates to work during weekend daylight shifts and also be comfortable with flexible evening shifts during the regular work week.

Responsibilities include:

1. Assist in the daily operations of our Men's Residential Program, High Commitment Shelter, Emergency Shelter, Meal Ministry, as well as other associated outreach functions.
2. Direct clients and guests to shelter services during their visits.
3. Monitor the building and its residents.
4. Assist in transporting clients or arranging transportation.
5. Data entry of notes and statistics into a computer system.

Due to the interface with the clients, Light of Life considers every position to be essential in the fulfillment of our ministry and as such, requires employees to:

• Participate in the ministry of Light of Life Rescue Mission and walk alongside clients sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them through actions and words.
• Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life while following the processes described in the staff handbook.
• Practice stewardship of all resources.
• Subscribe to and embrace Light of Life's Statement of Faith, Values, and Principles.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with diverse groups of clients and volunteers
• Basic computer competency
• Must be able to handle crisis and unexpected situations with calm and clear thinking
• Must model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting, and a self-evaluative lifestyle
• PA Driver's License with clean driving record required
• Bonafide Occupational Requirements: Christian Male based on faith-based mission and exclusivity of male living environment. Christian Females are welcome to apply for separate openings in the Women's Shelter.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of drug and alcohol recovery and mental illness preferred
