The California Horse Racing Board is looking for an Information Technology Supervisor II to join our team. Do you want to work with a great dynamic team, in a fast-paced department? If so, this may be the position for you!

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director, the Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II) acts as the Chief Information Officer for the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB). The CHRB has 54 authorized staff positions, of which some report to headquarters in Sacramento and some report to licensed racing facilities located statewide. The IT Sup II collaborates with CHRB executives to develop and manage the Information Technology (IT) strategic plan.  Further, the IT Sup II manages the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Unit (IT) and supervises a small number of IT staff located in the northern and southern parts of the state. The IT Sup II provides strategic and technical leadership of policies, development, maintenance, and operation of the CHRB’s infrastructure, including the security, application, website, and databases and associated system software, hardware, and networks used to host CHRB’s information systems.  The IT Sup II is accountable for development and maintenance of the CHRB’s Information System Program (CHRIS).  The IT Sup II collaborates with CHRB management, other CIOs of the State of California, and program staff to develop and construct applications that are used to fulfill the mission of the CHRB.  Finally, The IT Sup II directs support for the Internet, Intranet, the associated systems, telecommunications systems, servers, and networks that facilitate CHRB’s office automation environment, including servers, storage systems, network appliances, disaster recovery system and other duties as required.

This position is designated under the  Conflict of Interest Code . The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Working Conditions

• The incumbent works in a typical office environment, using one or more personal computers.
• The incumbent works on the first floor of a two-story building.
• This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Statement of Qualifications

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidate’s education, training, experience, and skills qualify them for the position.

The Statement of Qualifications must contain a header with the following information:

• Applicant’s name
• Job Control Number
• Position Number

In no more than two pages, using one-inch margins, and Arial 12-point font; briefly describe your experience, the dates the experience was acquired, and your working job title for the following in numbered format:

1. Experience leading and/or supervising organization level IT functions
2. Experience using, maintaining, and/or developing ASP.NET, SQL, or PeopleSoft IT solutions
3. Experience with IT business technology management, IT security engineering, IT client services, IT system engineering, IT software engineering, and/or IT project management
