Department Details


The Community Life Educator role is rewarding as you actively support caregivers, community members and children understand the importance of safety and injury prevention. The job offers a great deal of variety and opportunity to use your personal strengths while developing new skills and knowledge. Educators collaborate with a variety of organizations across the southeast corner of North Dakota and portions of Minnesota.


The Community Life Educator role offers the ability to teach community and outreach classes, educate caregivers through community events, car seat checks and more. Hours vary based on education provided. Staff typically work one evening per week and on may work a weekend. Work related tasks vary from in person education to administrative reporting of grant work and developing curriculum and interactive activities.



Job Summary


Provides health education through Sanford Health sponsored and coordinated community classes. Knowledge of and use of appropriate age-related protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of identified populations. Coordinates pre-designed curriculum and specific course logistics and objectives pertinent to subject matter. Presents health education and promotion programs, such as training workshops, conferences, one-on-one consultations, and school or community presentations.


Provide feedback needed to assist in the development of new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.


The Community Life Educator establishes, strengthens, and maintains community relationships and partnerships based on assigned focus area and expertise. Must be able to work effectively with groups and communicate with individuals and groups. Must have experience in adult learning and learning styles, or as appropriate to developmental stage of participant. Experience in teaching and facilitation of groups essential.


Responsible for data collecting and administrative tasks associated with training courses as required by curriculum, grant funded programs and state regulations when applicable.



Qualifications


Associate s degree preferred. Area of focus in public health, education, healthcare or related field preferred.


Certification/licensure as appropriate and/or required by course content.


When applicable, may need a valid driver's license.


If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.
