Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our software development team on an ongoing, high-impact project. This role will focus on designing and delivering secure, scalable, and auditable data pipelines in Microsoft Azure , supporting a wide range of reporting, analytics, and transparency initiatives involving sensitive and public-facing datasets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure-native tools.
• Develop ingestion workflows and data transformation logic that enable efficient analytics and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with data governance standards, focusing on data quality, auditability, and privacy.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts, and stakeholders in a Scrum/Agile environment.
• Support the publication of data to public portals or oversight agencies in alignment with transparency and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure-native tools .
• Proficient in Azure Data Factory , Dataflows , Synapse Pipelines , or similar orchestration tools.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL , Python , or PySpark for data transformation and cleansing.
• Familiarity with Delta Lake , Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 , and data formats such as JSON and Parquet .
• Ability to design modular, reusable pipeline components with robust error handling and metadata-driven architecture .
• Experience working with public datasets , government transparency data, or publishing workflows.
• Knowledge of data privacy and protection techniques, including PII handling , data masking , and encryption .
• Implementation experience with data quality frameworks (e.g., validation rules, logging, reconciliation processes).
• Strong understanding of DevOps/DataOps practices including CI/CD , version control , and automated testing for data pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting data publishing for regulatory , oversight , or open data initiatives.
• Certifications such as DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer Associate) or Azure Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
