Role: Data Services QA Tester
Location: Houston, Texas
We are seeking a skilled SAP BOBJ and Data Services QA Tester to support the end-to-end testing of a major upgrade and operating system (OS) migration initiative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing BusinessObjects reports and Data Services jobs across the legacy and new environments to ensure functional and performance integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Planning & Strategy
Define test plans, scenarios, and cases for validating SAP BusinessObjects (WebI, Crystal) and Data Services (ETL) functionality after upgrade and OS migration.
Identify critical business reports, jobs, and dependencies for validation.
Coordinate with BOBJ/DS Admins, Developers, and Business Users to understand scope.
SAP BusinessObjects Testing
Validate Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports functionality (data accuracy, filters, prompts, formatting).
Compare output between pre- and post-migration environments using SQL or automated tools.
Test report scheduling, delivery, access controls, and user permissions.
Check universes (UDT/IDT) and ensure data connectivity is preserved.
SAP Data Services Testing
Execute and validate batch jobs, workflows, and data flows across source and target systems.
Compare source-to-target data loads for accuracy, completeness, and transformation logic.
Validate repository objects and job execution performance.
Test Data Services Management Console, logs, and job monitoring tools.
Performance & Regression Testing
Conduct baseline and post-migration performance testing for reports and ETL jobs.
Run regression tests to ensure no functionality is broken after OS and software upgrades.
Defect Management & Reporting
Log defects with detailed reproduction steps and impact analysis.
Work with developers and system admins to troubleshoot and validate fixes.
Provide daily/weekly QA status reports and participate in cutover/release planning meetings.
Required Skills & Experience:
4–6 years of hands-on experience in SAP BusinessObjects and/or Data Services testing
Strong SQL skills for data validation and comparison
Experience in system upgrade, migration, or patch validation projects
Familiarity with SAP BOBJ components: WebI, Crystal, IDT/UDT, CMC
Experience testing ETL workflows and data transformations in SAP Data Services
Understanding of data warehouse concepts and source-to-target mapping
Experience validating security (SSO/LDAP), permissions, and user access
Exposure to OS-level migrations and environment re-validation post-move (Windows & Linux)
