Schedule: Temporary, part-time, 20 hours a week for 12 months

Morven Museum & Garden seeks a part-time, temporary Education and Programs Coordinator. The successful candidate will work alongside the Curator of Education and Public Programs to maintain a robust public program schedule, manage the museum’s volunteer docent program, and develop new educational opportunities for a K-12 audience. This is a 12-month, part-time position working on site.

Duties

• Support the creation and implementation of school programming and resources (field trips, class visits, lesson plans, and teacher professional development) for a K-12 audience

• Manage volunteer docent (tour guide) recruitment, training, and scheduling

• Assist in the planning and running of public programs (research, scheduling, speaker outreach, content development)

• Daily administrative support (drafting correspondence, preparation of presentations, processing invoices, and other general office and clerical duties)

Qualifications

• B.A. and 2 years work history, or equivalent experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in American history and education (classroom and/or informal learning environments).

• Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, with attention to detail.

• Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Ability to work well as a member of a team.

• Comfortable leading tours, school visits, and meetings with audiences ranging from children to adults.

• Administrative and organizational skills, including experience with museum databases, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Zoom.

• Physical ability to lift or carry 25lbs, frequently use hands for simple grasping or pushing or pulling; occasionally bend, squat, climb, reach overhead; and the ability to work on ladders and ability to maintain balance.

• Must be available to work some evenings and weekends for public programs.
