OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION
Trim/finish carpenters are specialized workers who install and repair the molding and trim of windows, doors, baseboards, mantels and other ornamental pieces. Trim carpenters are called finish carpenters because they typically complete the project with the final carpentry details, making the job look finished. The work involved with this vocation is physically demanding, which includes bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, climbing and standing for long periods.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Trim carpenters must read blueprints, instructions and design details submitted by customers, architects, supervisors and other carpenters.
• The trim carpenter must be able to conduct a job layout, measuring, marking and ordering all their materials.
• He must meet stringent deadlines and meet all local building code requirements---and possess the ability to shape, mold, bend and custom fit molding and materials to difficult building details.
• Trim carpenters must have a high degree of dexterity.
• Build and set forms for footings, walls, and slabs
• Frame interior walls, build stairs, and install drywall, crown molding, doors, and cabinets.
