Position Summary

Position based out of either one of the following locations: BED, TEB, PBI or OPF.

The Director of Flight Standards is responsible for d irecting all pilot standardization, training, and fleet related activities by ensuring the efficient execution crew standards and training plans, while complying with applicable FAA guidance and Company policies and procedures while providing the highest degree of safety and efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree in functional area or related professional field from an accredited university or, relevant work experience.

• FAA Airline Transport Pilot license

• Experience in Flight, Standards or Training environments under 14CFAR: 121,125,135, or142.

Main Responsibilities

• Provides oversight of the development, delivery and implementation of all pilot training activities.
• Responsible for all Pilot Training records, their accuracy and compliance with FAA guidance and Company policies and procedures. Aids with forecasting pilot training needs and instructional staffing and equipment needed.
• Responsible to accomplish and resolve all aircraft fleet related matter in accordance with all Company policies and procedures as well as the DOT, FAA and TSA regulations.
• Leads the training scheduling, and fleet standardization/improvement.
• Supervises the scheduling of all training resources, including simulators, classrooms, and associated equipment.
• Oversees the efficient scheduling of training for Pilots, Flight Instructors, classrooms and associated equipment.
• Helps manage and monitor pilot training to remain within budget.
• Plans for future training requirements and costs.
• Works with the Chief Pilots, Line Check Airman, when necessary, on decisions regarding additional training and failure of training.
• Periodic observation of instructor staff to ensure department training objectives and standards are followed.
• Ensures that training activities are adequately supported in terms of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
• Oversees development of policies, standards and procedures to ensure that all training is accomplished and in compliance with required FAA training directives.
• Researching potential industry changes associated with future Pilot Mentoring.

Main Responsibilities Cont.

• Developing and maintaining instructional performance standards.
• Directing the development of needs assessment programs to ensure current training content is accurate and thorough in meeting the Companys Pilot performance standards.
• Reporting to Flight Operations staff, the training and checking results regarding the effectiveness of the Flight Operations policies and procedures.
• Monitoring trends in Flight Crew Irregularity Reports, Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Flight Operation Quality Assurance (FOQA), Advanced Qualification Program, and Line Operations Safety Audit with timely feedback and proper operating procedure changes and ensure corrective actions.
• Monitoring Pilot manuals and the FOTM to ensure content accuracy and standardization.
• Assist in aircraft deliveries.
• Providing aircraft type expertise on a regular basis.
• Providing a forum for researching, evaluating, and implementing new or revised systems policies and procedures.
• Interfacing with Manufacturer Representatives on technical and procedural issues.
• Managing the Line Check Airmen group and ensuring a standardized approach to completion of line checks, simulator events, and operational experience.
• Supporting improvements in the aircraft software, hardware, and fuel efficiencies.
• Maintaining course currency for Training to comply with FAA mandates or changes.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Flight Training and Standards.
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.

The posted salary ranges will default to that of your regional location and will not include any premiums. The baseline range will be as follows: $230,000.00 - $250,000.00
