We seek to hire one or more rabbinic leaders to assist lay leadership in running Shabbat and/or holiday services. Position begins July, 2024. There may also be an opportunity for leading High Holiday services.
Candidates should be skilled at leading tefillah, giving divrei Torah, and reading Torah (generally 20-30 p’sukim). Our community includes several ritually skilled members who will assist in leading services.
We are seeking candidates who can commit to leading services once or twice a month. The exact number of weeks and schedule to be determined.
Community Description:
Kol HaNeshamah is a 50-family egalitarian traditional synagogue in Englewood, NJ. Our Shabbat and holiday services combine traditional and modern elements in a style that is informal, interactive and participatory. Our members share the responsibilities of chanting from the Torah, leading services and offering divrei Torah.
We take very seriously the mitzvah of Tikkun Olam. Our members participate in community service projects throughout the year such as assisting at a homeless shelter and preparing holiday gifts for needy families. In times of sadness, the community comes together to console, nurture and support its members.
Our community loves to be together! Community events and celebrations throughout the year such as Chanukah and Purim parties, Sukkot barbecues, Shabbat Kiddush luncheons, Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat dinners, and theatre trips provide opportunities to share the joy of Jewish living in an atmosphere that is both warm and respectful of the diversity of observance.
We have a book club that meets regularly and we have weekly Talmud study sessions.
