Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Furniture Restorer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for restoring, repairing, and maintaining various types of furniture, with a focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. This role involves working with a wide range of materials, ensuring that each piece is returned to its best possible condition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Inspect furniture to determine the extent of damage and the best course of action for repair.
• Evaluate the condition of each piece to ensure appropriate restoration techniques are applied.

Repair and Restoration:

• Perform repairs using both traditional methods and modern techniques.
• Replace missing or damaged parts while maintaining the original aesthetic.
• Clean and refinish surfaces to remove dirt, grime, and minor imperfections.

Documentation and Research:

• Document the repair process, including before and after photographs and detailed notes on techniques used.
• Conduct basic research to identify appropriate restoration methods when needed.

Customer Interaction:

• Communicate with clients to understand their expectations and preferences for the repair or restoration of their items.
• Provide advice on maintenance and care to ensure the longevity of restored pieces.

Collaboration and Continuous Learning:

• Collaborate with other artisans and experts in related fields to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and tools that can improve repair techniques.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

• Formal training in a related field such as furniture making, woodworking, or a similar discipline is preferred but not required.

Experience:

• Proven experience in furniture restoration and repair.
• Knowledge of different materials and techniques used in furniture making and repair.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find creative solutions to repair challenges.
• Effective communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy or awkwardly shaped objects and perform intricate repairs.
• Patience and a meticulous approach to work.

• Flexibility to adapt to the unique challenges of each restoration project.
