Job Description and Duties

Most positions at CDCR Enterprise Information Services are eligible for telework. This position is primarily telework and may require in-person attendance when requested.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

The incumbent will function under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager II (ITM II), Infrastructure Services Section, Enterprise Information Services.   The incumbent will be responsible for managing and overseeing the overall network architectural design and engineering of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Wide area (WAN) and Local Area networks (LAN). The incumbent is responsible for the acquisition, implementation, security and maintenance and support of CDCR’s IT WAN/LAN infrastructure to support and advance CDCR business programs (both current and future). The ITM I will provide direction and leadership on Information Technology (IT) solutions in an effort to meet CDCR’s strategic business objectives.  The incumbent is required to demonstrate expertise in the areas of staff direction, team building and motivation, financial control, and achieving service delivery targets for quality and timeliness.  The ITM I directly manages specialists and consultants by providing them with strategic and operational technical direction.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework scheduled for employee who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the interview process. Telework is only available to residents of California.

Working Conditions

The main EIS location is in a park-like campus setting across from the Folsom Lake auto dealerships in Rancho Cordova, close to US Highway 50 and the Hazel light rail station. We are minutes from historic Sutter Street, the Folsom Premium Outlets, and many dining establishments.
