Under the direction of the Community Resource Manager (CRM) C.I., the Jewish Chaplain provides religious services. At times supervises varied faith groups. The Chaplain interviews and counsels incarcerated persons on ethical and moral problems and spiritual matters; prepares and conducts religious services and administers religious rites; organizes and instructs classes in religious ethics and sacred music; supervises the arranging of programs conducted in the institution by visiting religious and allies groups; counsels with incarcerated persons regarding family problems; serves when designated, as a member of or consultant to classification committees; works with incarcerated groups and activities. Provides and approves Kosher meals for the population. Provides supervision to assigned incarcerated persons. Assist in the overall cleanliness of all chapels. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
