Job Description

LTS is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the design, testing, implementation, and turnover of network communications systems for the Department of Defense in the US and abroad. The goal is to improve overall network performance that enhances the network users experience with responsive computing resources. This role requires an active Secret clearance .

You will be part of a team that will plan, design, and evaluate new and existing multi-vendor computer network systems and services, including local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, and the Internet, providing analytical, technical, and administrative support. This includes network policies and procedures to ensure network integrity as part of maintenance and modification projects to existing network systems and applications.

This position is based in Montgomery, AL and requires at least partial on-site presence depending on project needs.

Responsibilities And Qualifications

  • Draft technical requirements, engineering documents, configuration documents, training manuals and troubleshooting processes, as directed by the project team lead.
  • Participate in network solution development and design review processes, conduct prototyping, integration, testing and certification of solutions in a lab environment.
  • Perform a network discovery using an automated tool such as the Information Technology Programmable Integration Engine (IT PIE) and/or Airwave Management System to determine the baseline configuration. Discovery activities include but are not limited to network topology (physical and logical), network physical inventory, IP scope, device configuration, and power and HVAC load/capacity assessments.
  • Work with other network engineers, customers, and cross organizational teams to refine requirements.
  • Implement and integrate multi-vendor upgrades into environments (i.e., Cisco, Juniper, HP, Foundry, etc.).
  • Configure network hardware and software and install in accordance with approved design and implementation plan.
  • Troubleshoot resolve issues with network hardware and software as part of the installation and implementation of new networks.
  • Configure hardware and software and resolves technical problems by monitoring and maintaining license subscriptions and maintenance agreements.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma and 3+ years’ experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network equipment with thorough knowledge of routers and switches.
  • Must have a DoD Secret clearance or higher
  • Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution.
  • Experience with applying and documenting DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Must be certified at IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, or other certification satisfying DoD 8570 certification requirements).
  • Associate Level Networking Certification (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA), or completed 6 months from date of start
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, both CONUS and OCONUS based on project needs
  • May require prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
