Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Days

Location: Milan, NM

Schedule: 36 hours/week, day shifts; must have open availability, including weekends and holidays

Contract Length: 13 weeks (with potential to extend)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

Weekly Gross Pay: $1,309.50

Job Overview:

This is a full-time contract assignment in a correctional healthcare environment. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care and supports the medical team in the assessment, treatment, and monitoring of incarcerated individuals. LPNs in this setting must maintain professionalism, ensure safety in a secure facility, and provide consistent, high-quality care.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver basic nursing care under physician or RN supervision in accordance with licensure.
• Operate pill call and sick call; prepare exam rooms and assist providers during visits.
• Administer and document medication distribution, maintaining strict control of supplies.
• Perform emergency medical procedures as required.
• Accurately chart and maintain patient medical records.
• Observe, assess, and document inmate/resident behavior and health status.
• Support medical staff by supervising sanitation, inventory control, and safety measures.
• Escort or coordinate patient movement for medical treatment within the facility.
• Respond to crises, perform rescue functions, and participate in safety/emergency protocols.

Requirements:

• Must reside more than 70 miles from the facility (no local applicants).
• Minimum 1 year of recent LPN experience.
• Active, unrestricted New Mexico LPN license.
• Active BLS certification (AHA preferred).
• Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer.
• Open availability; no RTO or scheduling restrictions allowed.
• Must not have worked at the same facility in the past 6 months.
• Must not be on any industry DNU list.
• U.S. Citizenship and Social Security card required for facility clearance.

Preferred:

• Previous correctional or behavioral health experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage challenging patient interactions.
• Experience working in secure or high-stress clinical environments.
