Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe IMS Application Database Administrator (DBA) to provide technical leadership and database administration support for mainframe IMS applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IMS database management, DBRC, forward recoveries, and z/OS utilities , along with strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Responsibilities:

• Administer IMS application databases in development, acceptance, and production environments.
• Perform database maintenance, performance tuning, backup, and recovery .
• Troubleshoot and resolve DBRC-related issues and production abends .
• Monitor and optimize IMS database performance .
• Create, modify, and maintain IMS database descriptions .
• Support batch job scheduling and mainframe production control .
• Collaborate with application development, network administration, and customer support teams to ensure smooth mainframe operations.
• Assist with testing and deployment of mainframe software upgrades .
• Provide after-hours support for mainframe batch jobs and troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of experience with z/OS Systems platform .
• 5+ years of experience in mainframe IMS database administration .
• 5+ years of experience with DBRC and forward recoveries .
• 7+ years of experience with z/OS utilities such as TSO, SYSVIEW, SDSF, JSF, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, IEFBR14 .
• 5+ years of experience with batch and CICS COBOL, IMS programming, and problem resolution .
• 5+ years of experience developing and troubleshooting JCL scripts .
• 5+ years of experience with JCL, CICS, VSAM, and TSO .
• 2+ years of experience writing, analyzing, and debugging REXX programs in a z/OS environment .
• 2+ years of experience with IMS HAL databases and IMS Catalog .
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot IMS database and application issues .
• Experience working in large-scale mainframe environments .
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills .
• Experience with mainframe disaster recovery and change management .

Additional Information:

• This position is for a hands-on IMS DBA , not a DB2 DBA .
• Candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check as required by Texas law.
