We are looking for a Manager, Trust & Safety Analytics to lead a team of analysts focused on identifying and mitigating potential risks on the platform. If you are passionate about recognizing patterns, generating insights, and moving toward solutions for risk prevention, this is a great opportunity for you!

As a Manager, Trust & Safety Analytics, you will proactively identify marketplace risks and help remediate them by optimizing our controls program. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Analytics & Strategic Finance. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. • The Trust & Safety Analytics team partners closely with leads across Trust & Safety and Product & Engineering to craft policy, ensure business goals are met or exceeded, and manage the rapidly changing environment of platform risks.

• More broadly, the Analytics team at Etsy helps drive the success of our partners by providing meaningful insights, industry-leading measurement techniques, and access to the metrics, data, and tools needed for decision-making and optimization. What does the day-to-day look like?

• You will lead a team of analysts responsible for maintaining our internal controls and generating insights to help uncover and mitigate marketplace risks

• You will maintain and refine processes to review, validate, and provide estimated precision rates for proposed controls and machine learning models, collaborating with Product Engineering and Trust & Safety

• You will collaborate with leadership, program management, and Product Engineering around control-tuning needs based on emerging trends 

• You will provide regular trend and insights updates to Trust & Safety teams 

• You will serve as the SME in control-focused conversations with Product Engineering as needed

• You will partner with other Trust & Safety teams in the risk and fraud spaces to ensure consistency across our controls programs

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• Proven success leading Analytics or Data Science teams in e-commerce or another internet-based industry

• 5+ years of Trust & Safety or risk prevention experience

• Experience with large datasets, sophisticated analytical techniques, and using data to influence business decisions

• Successful track record of distilling highly complex problems into narratives that are concise, action-focused, and memorable for senior audiences

• High proficiency with SQL, R and/or Python, as well as statistical metrics such as precision, recall, and false positive rates

• An ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment, easily adapting to new platform risks and using data-driven insights to guide decisions in ambiguous situations

• A trust in and dedication to Etsy’s vision, mission and values
