Professional Analysis, Inc. (PAI) is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical/Electrical Engineer – LPD Class Ship Design and Technical and Machinery Systems to support Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) located at the Navy Yard - Washington, DC (Contingent upon award).

The Engineer, will provide mechanical engineering support for the design, integration, and maintenance of machinery systems on LPD-class ships. This position involves collaborating with engineering teams and shipbuilders to ensure the optimal performance of shipboard machinery systems, including propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems. The Engineer will also assist in the development and review of technical documentation to ensure compliance with Navy standards.
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Machinery System Design and Integration: Provide mechanical engineering support in the design and integration of machinery systems such as propulsion, power generation, HVAC, and auxiliary systems for LPD-class ships.
• Technical Documentation: Assist in the preparation and review of technical documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and manuals related to machinery systems.
• System Performance Analysis: Conduct performance analyses of machinery systems to ensure they meet operational and safety requirements. Recommend modifications or improvements based on findings.
• Maintenance and Reliability Support: Assist in the development of maintenance plans for shipboard machinery systems, focusing on reliability and efficiency improvements.
• Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, shipbuilders, and stakeholders to ensure that all machinery systems are integrated effectively into the overall ship design.
• Compliance with Navy Standards: Ensure that all machinery system designs and operations comply with U.S. Navy standards and regulations, including safety and environmental guidelines.
• Risk Mitigation: Support the identification and mitigation of risks related to machinery systems, including mechanical failures and operational inefficiencies
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
• Specialized experience with applicable codes and standards (ABS, NVR, etc.)
• Must have DoD Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
• 3 years’ experience with ship main propulsion
• Very detailed oriented and analytical.
