Overview
Lighthouse Lab Services is proud to partner with a large healthcare system in North Carolina to expand their Microbiology laboratory team. We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist II - Microbiology to join this innovative and high-performing lab, playing a critical role in diagnosing and treating infectious diseases. Responsibilities

• Perform microbiology testing, including bacterial culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular diagnostics, and specialized microbiology procedures.
• Process and analyze specimens, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results.
• Utilize and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
• Conduct quality control and proficiency testing to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with medical professionals to provide diagnostic insights and support clinical decision-making.
• Assist in developing and implementing new laboratory procedures and methodologies.
• Train and mentor new staff members and students in microbiology procedures and laboratory best practices.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field required , OR
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with certification/licensure required within six months of hire .
• An associate’s degree with preferred experience may also be considered.
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of microbiology experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
  

Work Schedule and Salary

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Rotating weekends and holidays as needed
• Salary: $28-$40 per hour (depending on experience)
