Job Description

I’m working with a non-profit hospice group in Poughkeepsie, NY . We’re looking for an On Call Registered Nurse (RN) to join us full-time. You will provide nursing care after office hours to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing services according to the patient’s care plan.
• Making visits to patients at home, in hospitals or nursing homes as needed.
• Obtaining reports prior to the start of the on-call shift, providing accurate and complete on-call reports as required at the end of each on-call shift.
• Providing education, supervision, and counseling to patients/family members and caregivers regarding physical care and other duties as assigned.

The RN will carry a cell phone and laptop during scheduled work hours and respond according to policy and procedures, responding to all calls from service within 10 minutes of the initial page/call.

The physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include regular travel by car in all weather conditions and working in patient homes and, on rare occasions, in hospitals and nursing homes.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Active New York State RN License.
• Three years of nursing experience including one year of medical- surgical experience preferred.
• Experience in Hospice, community health and/or oncology nursing preferred.
• Valid New York State driver’s license.
• Hospice and Palliative Care Certification or after completion of one year of employment is highly encouraged.
• Maintain working knowledge re: use of the CADD Pump.

Compensation : $90,000 to $100,000 annually.
