Job Requirements

• Licenses: Active New York medical license required
• Board: Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• DEA: Active DEA Certification
• Certifications: BLS required
• Experience: Emergency orthopedic experience preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for the Emergency Department
• Perform open and closed reductions
• Conduct internal and external fixations as needed
• Evaluate and manage emergency orthopedic trauma cases
• Collaborate with hospital staff and emergency teams
• Facilitate transfers for complex cases requiring multiple surgeries or long-term management

Examples of Cases Requiring Transfer

• Acetabular fractures
• Pelvic ring fractures
• Multi-joint sepsis
• Spine fractures or dislocations
• Herniated discs requiring admission
• Cauda equina syndrome
• Multi-trauma involving multiple limb long bone injuries
• Finger reimplantation
• Pediatric septic hip
• Surgical cases complicated by tumor involvement
• Epidural abscess
