Job Title: Pathology Assistant
Location: 100 N Academy Ave, Danville, PA 17821
Duration: 13 weeks (with possibilities of extension)
Shift: 9am to 5pm
Guaranteed Hours: 40

Pay Details:

For Local Candidates pay rate: $57 to $65/hr (If your permanent address is within 50 miles from the facility)

For Travelers/Stipend Candidates (If your permanent address is outside the 50 mile radius from the facility):
Blended Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $62.00
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $2,480.00
Minimum Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $32.95
Min. W2 Weekly Gross (Taxable): $1,318.00
Weekly Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,162.00

OR

For Traveler 1099 Candidates:
Pay Rate on 1099 to the Candidate: $65.00
Weekly 1099 Traveler Pay Rate: $2,600.00

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Pathologist, this role involves assisting with the preparation and dissection of human surgical specimens for microscopic examination, conducting postmortem examinations, and supporting quality assurance initiatives in Anatomic Pathology.

Job Duties:

• Assist the Pathologist with surgical specimen dissections and perform postmortem examinations.
• Gather relevant clinical information, lab data, and legal authorizations for autopsies.
• Describe anatomical features during dissections, including external examinations and organ inspections.
• Prepare tissue sections for histologic processing and perform intraoperative procedures such as frozen sections.
• Triaging biological samples for various specialized procedures as directed by the Pathologist.
• Process tissues for BioSpecimen Banking as needed.
• Photograph specimens as required by the Pathologist.
• Maintain equipment, ensure cleanliness, and manage supplies in the surgical pathology suite.
• Support the Pathologist Assistant Team Lead in overseeing Surgical Pathology Technicians and training residents.
• Assist in orienting new employees and identifying their training needs.
• Help organize Anatomic Pathology Conferences.

Requirements:

• Education: Master’s degree in science or a related field (Required).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pathology Assistant (Required).
• License/Certifications: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification (Required).
