Job Description

Job Title: Land Surveyor

Location: Mississippi

Job Type: Full-Time

Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Land Surveyor to join our team in Mississippi. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of professional experience in land surveying, with a comprehensive understanding of surveying principles, practices, AutoCAD and legal aspects related to land boundaries and construction projects. This position requires a strong leader who can oversee complex surveying projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with state and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Survey Project Management:

Oversee and manage various land surveying projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.

Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate with clients and other stakeholders.

2.Survey Operations:

Conduct precise field surveys including boundary, topographic, construction layout, and subdivision surveys.

Utilize advanced surveying instruments and software to collect, process, and analyze survey data.

3.Technical Expertise:

Interpret and verify survey data, maps, and reports for accuracy and legal sufficiency.

Prepare and review survey drawings, legal descriptions, plats, and other documents.

AutoCAD utilization and design for topographic surveys

4.Compliance and Standards:

Ensure all surveying activities comply with state and local laws, regulations, and standards.

Stay updated with changes in surveying technology, laws, and best practices.

5.Team Leadership:

Provide mentorship and training to junior surveyors and technical staff.

Lead and motivate the survey team to achieve high-quality results.

6.Client Relations:

Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and

ensuring satisfaction.

Provide expert advice and solutions to clients on surveying matters.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Mississippi.

4-10 years of relevant land surveying experience.

Proficiency in using surveying instruments such as GPS, total stations, and data collectors.

Advanced skills in survey software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS applications.

Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, methods, and applicable laws.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Land Surveying or a related field.

Experience with drone surveying and photogrammetry.

Experience in AutoCAD

Experience or ability to learn ArcGIS

Membership in professional organizations such as NSPS (National Society of Professional Surveyors) or MSPS (Mississippi Society of Professional Surveyors). Ability to obtain in other states

Working Conditions:

Physical ability to conduct field surveys, including walking, standing, and carrying equipment over rough terrain.
