Position Summary



Under the general and direct supervision of the Project Director, and co-investigators, this Project Coordinator/Analyst will have opportunity to work on a number of important research projects, and involves study subject recruitment, data collection, data and statistical analyses, and report writing. The individual may also be responsible for day-to-day project coordination and management, outreach, and communication. He/she will be responsible for compliance with the project contract deliverables and completion of project activities related to, such as, Aliso Canyon Disaster Health Research Study, in Los Angeles County, NIH research projects of oral health PROMIS (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System) Study, Baldwin Hills Health Assessment (BHHA) project, and other ongoing projects as needed. As a key part of the team, the individual will regularly interact with co-investigators, key decision-makers and leadership of health, nonprofit, as well as government sectors. This individual will periodically convene local stakeholders and decision-makers involving management and conduct of activities, organize, and oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure that all tasks and scope of work will be accomplished on time and that the deliverables meet funding agencies’ requirements. He/she will participate in research meetings, involve with activities, such as literature search and review, outreach of study subject recruitment, subject follow-up, data collection, data management and manipulation, generate summary, create tables and figures, participate manuscript development, and have the potential to co-author on research publications. Under the guidance of the Project Director, the candidate will have the following responsibilities: 1. Aliso Canyon Disaster Health Research Study: Coordinate data core activities (e.g., data security measures/procedures, communicate with collaborators, organize files, retrieve data from different sources) and health survey core activities (e.g., recruitment, help with data collection platforms online and/or by telephone, administration of residential surveys). 2. Oral Health PROMIS Study: Coordinate subject recruitment efforts in collaboration with LAUSD, LA Trust, school districts, and schools for the recruitment of children and their parents. 3. Baldwin Hills Health Assessment Study (BHHA): Oversee and ensure the deliverables, and final report to be submitted on time. Watch the timeline for BHHA, coordinate report writing by investigators and analysts, and ensure that deliverables and the final reports are completed and submitted on time. 4. Plan, organize and manage the workflow and pace of the project activities and ensure that each of the objectives/tasks will be finished on time with quality. 5. Participate in health research projects of the team at UCLA, involving literature review and summary, organize files and data, subject recruitment/follow-up, data collection, data, and statistical analyses, create summary and report, tables, figures, and participate research manuscript development. 6. Engage in teamwork and have opportunities to co-author abstracts, presentations, research papers and scientific publications.

Qualifications



  • Experience in developing and maintaining a full range of project documentation, including project plans, functional requirements, communication plans and project status reports. (Required)
  • Work experience (part/full time) in an area related to public health, medicine, public relation, management, public policy, education, social work, government, or community organizing/advocacy. (Required)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); knowledge of data and statistical software is a plus. (Required)
  • Excellent oral communication, writing, and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. (Required)
  • Demonstrated capacity to build working relationships and effective collaborations with diverse professional, institutional, and community leadership/partner organizations and policy makers. (Required)
  • Demonstrated project coordination and management skills and excellent organizational skills. (Required)
  • Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks efficiently, and manage conflicting and changing priorities and deadlines under minimal supervision. (Required)
  • Ability to anticipate information needed by others as situations and projects develop and exercise sound judgment. (Required)
  • Willingness to occasionally work alternative hours when needed such as evenings and/or weekends to accommodate events, meetings, or to meet deadlines. (Required)
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, subject recruitment, data analyses, statistical and other software. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with LA County area. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated project management, and problem resolution skills, detailed oriented capacity, meeting deadlines, and capable of tracking and following-up issues across multiple projects at the same time. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive team member in varied activities and projects. (Required)
  • Open-minded, flexible, willing to learn new ideas, concepts, techniques and skills, motivated, responsible, able to arrange/follow-up with workflow and tasks to meet with deadlines. (Required)


Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations



  • Bachelor's Degree In the field of public health, biostatistics, computer science, epidemiology, environmental health, public policy, social, education, management, behavioral sciences or other related fields. (Required) Or
  • Master's Degree In related areas and/or equivalent education and/or professional (Preferred)

  • Ability to travel to sites for data collection, when it is needed. (Required)
