Job Description

The Vilar Lab is a translational laboratory research program focused on the identification of new genes cooperating in colorectal carcinogenesis in order to identify novel drug targets, and the development of cancer chemoprevention/interception regimens that can be rapidly translated to the clinic.

In this Research Intern role, we will focus on two areas: 1.) a Multi-omics project integrating DNA methylation data, RNA-seq, and TCR-seq to comprehensively evaluate how long-term exercise intervention reshapes the immune and epigenetic landscape in Lynch Syndrome carriers, with the goal of uncovering molecular mechanisms underlying cancer prevention; and 2.) applying machine learning-based classification models to identify T-cell receptor (TCR) repertoire signatures associated with Lynch Syndrome carriers harboring variants of uncertain significance (VUS), aiming to improve risk stratification and support clinical interpretation of these variants.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This 6-month Research Intern role will have the following objectives:
• Analysis of TCRsequencing data from Lynch Syndrome participants in an excercise clinical trial
• Analysis of TCRsequencing data in genetic testing recipients with germline VUS in MMR genes to build a model to reclassify genetic variants
• Computational Analysis of multi-omics data
• Writing manuscripts and preparing presentations of research results
