We are seeking a seasoned SBA Underwriter . The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in underwriting, credit analysis, and strong credit acumen within the commercial lending sector. This individual should have the expertise to assess and manage complex loan requests, ensuring sound decision-making and adherence to SBA guidelines and regulations.
Job Summary
Responsible for underwriting new SBA-guaranteed term loans in a timely and competitive manner, while ensuring compliance with the bank's SBA underwriting standards, policies, and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The role focuses on meeting borrower needs by accurately selecting the appropriate loan type, while safeguarding the SBA guaranty throughout the life of the loan.
Essential Job Functions May Include:
* Underwrite SBA-guaranteed loans, ensuring compliance with SBA eligibility. requirements as outlined in SBA SOP guidelines, as well as adherence to the bank's credit policies.
* Perform financial spreading and conduct in-depth cash flow analysis to assess borrower financial health.
* Collaborate with the team to assist in the packaging and closing of SBA-guaranteed loans.
* Review SBA term loans, recommending risk rating upgrades or downgrades when necessary.
* Stay current with the latest SOP updates and provide expert SBA guidance to Underwriters, Credit Analysts, Processors, and Marketing Officers.
* Assist in the distribution of credit covenant reminders to SBA loan customers, ensuring timely collection of tax returns and financial statements for term loan reviews.
* Adhere to all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training requirements and follow related procedures.
Essential Requirements:
* Proven expertise in commercial credit underwriting, with at least 3 years of experience preferred.
* In-depth knowledge of SBA loan programs, including Express Loans, 7(a), and 504.
* Strong understanding of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
* Familiarity with the e-Tran system is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information.
