The University of Miami Health System Department of UMHC-SCCC - Cancer Support Services has an exciting opportunity for a full time Acupuncturist to work at Sylvester Medical Office Building in Miami. The incumbent provides a holistic approach to the maintenance of health and the management of disease with a focus on improving patients’ and clients’ overall well-being. This employee practices the accurate application of acupuncture to treat and manage a variety of emotional, mental, and physical disorders to maintain patients’ general good health.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conducts a detailed diagnosis and collects data on a patient’s lifestyle, diet, health history, and symptoms before developing a tailored treatment plan.

• Focuses on manipulating and maintaining the balance of ‘life energy’ or ‘life spirit’ in the body with the insertion of needles into various acupuncture points.

• Administers treatment over varied periods of time, ranging from one month to a year or more, depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s reaction to the treatment.

• Ensures all safety, infection, quality, and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used.

• Reviews and discusses treatment options and preventative measures with patients.

• Assesses and monitors patients’ progress, maintaining detailed and complete records of health care plans and prognoses.

• Dispenses herbal formulas and informs patients of dosages and frequencies, treatment duration, possible side effects, and drug interactions.

• Adheres to local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and statutes.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
