Performs a variety of engineering work in the development of an operable system capable of meeting requirements within imposed constraints including mass, cost and schedule. Designs and/or researches subsystem interfaces to ensure that subsystems are integrated and work together to form a viable complete system. Performs functional analysis of a system to ensure it meets performance criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back to the subsystem development teams. Uses standard procedures in carrying out assignments associated with research, design, development or analysis of specific parts, components, interfaces, or minor phases of a project. Coordinates with other technical personnel in solving technical problems, fabricating equipment, gathering information, formulating plans, designs, cost estimates and specifications. Provides assistance to higher level engineers in most of the detail work and translates technical guidance and data received into usable information applicable to the particular assignment. May serve as company representative advising customer and contractor personnel on technical requirements for products or services, support equipment and electronic equipment installation. Plans, directs and coordinates engineering functions involved in the design and development, installation, testing and integration of systems and subsystems. Directs or conducts research studies necessary for the improvement or reconfiguration of systems or subsystems. Serves as the customer interface and organizational consultant on significant issues requiring technical guidance, redirection or resolution. Directs the work of lower level technical personnel as required. Assists in compiling and preparing comprehensive technical reports and proposals. May participate as a team member of multiple teams; may act as primary intra-organizational liaison. Performs all other duties as assigned. BS degree in engineering or applied science with at least 2 years of related experience.

KBR ? is seeking a ? Ground Station Systems Engineer (GSSE) to join its talented team in ? Sioux Falls, South Dakota . KBR, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is the prime Technical Services Support Contractor (TSSC) to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), providing support in the areas of science, engineering, and technical operations at the Earth Resources Observation and Science ( EROS ) Center () near Sioux Falls, SD (). ?
The GSSE position provides technical leadership in the areas of hardware maintenance, engineering, software integration and configuration of all ground station equipment serviced by the on-site Landsat Ground Station (LGS). The candidate will also support several system engineering duties in support of the Ground Network for the Landsat mission, therefore, experience in the development, I&T, and deployment of RF systems is necessary.
The work location is the EROS Center in Sioux Falls, SD. This position supports an on-site work environment and includes rotating 24x7 on-call requirements.
