We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity to become a key member of our Commercial Department at a leading national title insurance company. Based in New York, NY, you will collaborate with our dedicated Commercial Coordinators and underwriters to provide exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and informative responses to customers and title/escrow staff regarding underwriting and escrow issues that affect their transactions.
- Partner with the sales manager and team to engage with clients and develop new business opportunities.
- Create and participate in client-focused presentations on industry-relevant topics.
- Review and negotiate Indemnity Agreements and Escrow Funding Agreements, as well as oversee the placement of reinsurance and review transactional, organizational, and authority documents.
- Work collaboratively with other offices to discuss and resolve legal and transactional challenges encountered in shared transactions.
- Utilize our title production platform for commitment construction, pro forma policy and endorsement production, and final policy issuance, ensuring we consistently meet customer deadlines.
- Prioritize tasks and manage workflow efficiently to maintain high productivity levels for both individual and team projects.
- Review surveys and draft responses to title objection letters, demonstrating proficiency in reading and mapping all types of real property legal descriptions.
- Assist in training current and future personnel as required by management.
- Support agency title counsel in underwriting and coordinating single and multi-site national transactions.
- Order searches and follow up with local offices for reports, missing documents, surveys, and information on local practices.
- Engage with internal team members and clients to uphold our service and quality standards.
- Coordinate pro forma and final policies pre and post-closing.
- Prepare settlement statements and disbursement requests.
- New York commercial closing experience and excellent communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with escrow instructions, co-insurance, reinsurance, and high liability underwriting procedures is preferred.
- Underwrite and assist in closing commercial transactions.
Flexible hours are required for this position.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial real estate title review and underwriting experience with a major national title insurer.
- 2+ years of commercial real estate transactional experience as an attorney.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of commercial title principles, legal codes, court procedures, title insurance regulations, and agency rules.
- Proficient in modern title production systems and technology resources.
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain composure under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to meeting customer demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
