TOOL DESIGN MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Overview:

The Tool Design Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. In this role, you will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, controls, and coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create/edit/maintain Engineering documentation such as geometry specification data, product drawings and project data analysis and reporting.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
  • Create and draft plans for manufacturing procedures.
  • Devise and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements.
  • Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors.
  • Help with the creation of new products, work processes, and any other manufacturing needs.
  • Assist and/or lead Continuous Improvement initiatives such as cycle time optimization and Setup time reduction.
  • Educate, train, and supervise new employees on current manufacturing and workflow processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in tool design and production.
  • Prior exposure to process development, documentation, and implementation.
  • Familiarity with increasing machine efficiencies.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Six Sigma problem-solving tools (i.e. DMAIC).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool grinder programming and processes (Numroto and Tool Studio).
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Problem-solving skills with knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
  • Education in Engineering a plus

Salary: $70,000+ commensurate with experience
