Michigan Dining is comprised of nineteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, Michigan Bakery, and the Michigan Catering unit. Our 500 professional and 1,200 student employees are committed to creative, healthy, and nutritious foods, international cuisines, and sustainability throughout all dining operations.

You will report to the Michigan Dining Marketing Manager and will work within the Michigan Dining marketing team to enhance the brand that is the primary food and beverage provider for the University of Michigan. This job is onsite in Ann Arbor, including evening and weekend work when necessary.

  • Work with the marketing team and dining leadership team to produce and compose visual storytelling elements for Michigan Dining. This includes scheduling, producing, and organizing shoot locations, participants, and other necessary elements.
  • Film, edit, and publish creative and engaging videos and other multimedia content for distribution across the Michigan Dining and Maize and Blue Cupboard social media channels, newsletters, and websites.
  • Build relationships with students and staff, navigate and connect with members of our community on social media to generate story leads or find potential influencers or brand ambassadors. 
  • Shoot and manage the library of food photography for the mobile and kiosk ordering platform for campus retail locations.
  • Lead the creative process which includes graphic selection, music and sound effects that align with the Michigan Dining and University of Michigan brand.
  • Manage visual consistency, innovation, and quality control across multiple digital platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the Michigan Dining website.
  • Direct and train student interns to maintain design standards, meet client communication needs, and support video production projects.
  • Propose ideas to help enhance the Michigan Dining brand through visual elements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in videography, digital media, journalism, broadcasting, or similar field or certification in broadcast media arts. 
  • Experience in videography, digital media, journalism, marketing, social media, or another appropriate field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience, including social media, film, video, photography, animation, content creation, and digital strategy.
  • Experience with video production techniques, including camera operation, lighting, and sound recording.
  • Experience shooting videos with a phone and using professional video equipment, including DSLRs or camcorders, audio and color correction, mics, and lighting equipment.
  • Understanding of animation, storytelling, and character development techniques.

This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.
