Department: ICE | CORE Volunteer Services IOP NC
Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The position of Volunteer Coordinator reports directly to the Director of the UAMS Medical Center Department of Volunteer Engagement and is responsible for assisting the Director with recruiting, training, coordinating, scheduling and supervising the 200-250 regular volunteers and additional special projects volunteers. At the direction of the Director, the Volunteer Coordinator will act in the Director’s absence. Outstanding oral and written communication skills and decision-making skills are required; ability to think independently while fostering team interactions are essential in this highly visible position.
As part of the UAMS Center for Patients and Families, the Volunteer Coordinator fosters patient- and family-centered care and works in respectful, supportive, and collaborative ways with patients and families. This position is committed to a patient- and family-centered approach to care, an approach that is collaborative and encourages the active engagement of the patient and family in care and decision-making.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree and two (2) years of event planning or non-profit experience.
- Certified Volunteer Manager or willing to work toward certification within 18 months
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications: - Workday and other software programs including Volgistics-Volunteer Program Software
- Experience with maintaining financial records/reports
Additional Information: Responsibilities: - Coordinates volunteers with new patients for hospital navigation, escorting, and support assignments.
- Ensures adequate numbers of volunteers are available for new patients scheduled to their assigned clinic.
- Conducts volunteer training and orientation.
- Participates on a multidisciplinary patient intake team for their assigned clinic by greeting and escorting new patients and connecting them to volunteer resources. Prepares materials for and conducts new patient orientation sessions for the clinic.
- Performs inpatient rounds to assess patient psychosocial needs and concerns and provides reporting back to clinical staff.
- Performs outreach activities including organizing patient education programs, serving as a liaison to local, state, and national organizations, and communicating with patients of the clinic.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
