Wellness Director Job Summary:
The Wellness Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the care and services of Residents, promoting the effective utilization, and monitoring of healthcare resources, and leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve desired clinical, emotional, and wellness outcomes in accordance with federal, state, local, company standards and established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Executive Director. The Director ensures Quality Delivery of Resident care through the promotion of systems utilizing Quality Improvement Practices. The Director is responsible for providing input into the budget and monitoring its effective implementation through regular reporting and monitoring of resources. The Director develops staff plans that effectively recruit, allocate, retain, develop, and mentor staff to established standards of performance while building a strong rapport with those we serve and their families. The ultimate goal of quality Resident care is to enable each Resident, where possible, to function at the highest level, to attain a stage of independence, or to at least prevent regression. An active approach to Resident care will be taken and not just passive maintenance.
Essential Functions:
The following essential functions are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
General Duties
• Support the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
• Establish and monitor goals and expectations for the Assisted Living and Memory Care departments.
• Develop departmental budgets, re-forecasts, and staffing plans.
• Assist in the administration of the Property/Risk Management Procedure Plans.
• Make reports and recommendations to the Executive Director as necessary or required concerning the operation of the departments.
• Develop, implement, and monitor the Quality Improvement, Safety, Infection, Disaster and Environmental Control Programs in concert with company and state standards and provide appropriate plans of action to correct any identified deficiencies.
• Participate in and oversee the admission and ongoing Resident assessment and care planning process.
• Coordinate and/or conduct Resident care plan conferences with families/sponsors. Actively communicate and work with Families, Residents, and staff to resolve complaints and grievances. Updates Residents and Families when appropriate to assist in safe, respectful, and appropriate transitions to other care settings, as necessary. Coordinate feedback and communication with Resident/family and staff to ensure safety and appropriate level of care.
• Act as Resident liaison and advocate to the Executive Director.
• Act as Resident/Administrative advocate for the development of and participation in Residents’ Council for the Assisted Living and Memory Care Setting.
• Develop methods for coordination of the department’s services with other departments outside agencies and health professionals to ensure the continuity of the Residents' total regimen of care. Coordinate with other staff members in scheduling events and use of facilities.
• Oversee compliance with established company and state-mandated practices for documentation. Monitor and coach staff for improved performance.
• Oversee surveys and inspections made by government agencies.
• Complete appropriate forms, reports, evaluations, and studies. Monitor and maintain documentation compliance in all areas including medication system, MARs, incidents, Resident clinical information, QA, safety, and required reports.
• Assist in Resident care as needed.
• Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of the Spark Book, Spark Lifestyle and Wellness philosophy, and its inherent core values.
• Support and participate in Spark Book Culture Initiatives (e.g., assist with feedback groups, assist in new initiatives, encourage Residents, and act as champions of fun).
Leadership and Communication:
• Plan, direct, and evaluate the programs, activities, and schedules of the Assisted Living and Memory Care departments in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, guidelines, and company practices.
• Conduct staff supervisory responsibilities to include selection, hiring, orientation, training, scheduling, coaching, monitoring, counseling, discipline, and terminations.
• Relays feedback from residents to staff related to both improvement and praise.
• Inspires and motivates others by demonstrating the highest level of personal performance and modeling BSL pillars.
• Partner with the community leadership team to drive employee engagement.
• Consistently building associate knowledge base by engaging in continuous training, role-playing, and effective delegation of tasks.
• Upholds Bridge Senior Living Policies and Procedures. Orients staff and trains on policies and procedures.
• Conducts monthly in-services for safety and sanitation with staff.
• Participates in the Manager on Duty Program which includes oversight and leadership support during assigned MOD shifts (including weekend shifts).
Safety and Sanitation:
• Understand and follow safety and infection control policies and procedures.
• Follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
• Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., gait belt, back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving residents, as applicable to your position.
• Keep floors dry. Report spills immediately.
• Report all hazardous conditions and equipment problems to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist housekeeping in maintaining offices and common areas ensuring rooms are safe, comfortable, attractive, and orderly.
Training:
• Attends in-service and staff meetings and education programs.
• Continue to develop job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities by participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
Resident Rights:
• Promotes and protects residents’ rights, assists residents in making informed decisions, treats residents with dignity and respect, and supports residents’ independent expression, choice, and decision-making consistent with all pertinent laws regarding residents’ rights. Reports suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Other:
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion.
• Ability to perform duties with consideration for Residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of Residents and in handling their health information. Leadership and motivational skills.
• Knowledge of medical/nursing practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to senior living care. Experience with clinical and diagnostic procedures
• Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide quality of care.
• Punctual and Flexible
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Assisted Living Administrator License and/or another License as required by the state.
• Registered Nurse preferred.
• CPR
• At least 3yrs progressively responsible work experience in the senior living industry or related field

Must physically be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and exert up to 25 pounds of pressure unassisted. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses. Must have three-dimensional vision and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have a normal sense of touch and smell.
Language Ability:
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills utilizing the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence via print and email.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Cognitive Demands:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
• Ability to use Microsoft Office Programs.
• Ability to use the Internet and online-based databases.
Environmental Adaptability:
• Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting.
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as noise, heights, and confined spaces. When outside, must be able to tolerate exposure to weather, fluctuations in temperature (hot, cold), wet and/or humid conditions.
• Associates may be exposed to blood and/or body fluids with potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
• Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.
• Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MDS Manual.
• Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable, and irrational.
